USA's 44th president?

BARACK OBAMA OR JOHN MC CAIN?
this topic has one of the most popular conversational-starters lately.
even my dad and i talked about it over dinner.
non-americans are showing great enthusiasm over such a topic? why?
is it because of cultural imperialism again? are we so obsessed with the US issues?
or we have simply nothing to do?

have a look at the 2 videos (part of their campaign)

Look at their different style of delivery.

OBAMA's way(sometimes i feel that it sounds like osama) is to convince people that america needs a change. not a small one, but a rather drastic one. i felt that this is rather effective because of the current economic situation of the united states (the collapse of lehman's brothers, the drop in property stocks)
mainly, he is targeting at the younger crowds, asking people to take risks, make big changes and basically everyone has lot to do for a greater america.
His assuring and confident voice (paralinguistics)also attracts people to vote for him.
because obama is young(perception and prototypes- more daring to make great changes), he will adopt conventional way the turn the current situtation around.

Unlike Obama, JOHN MC CAIN is almost twice of obama's age, at 72, i admire him to stand for election for the second time(he lost to bush in 2000 election). From the video, he's trying to depict his loyalty and commitment to the white house. He has been serving since he is 17. Mc Cain seeks for a less risk approach by warming and touching people's heart and assuring for an improvement of american's welfare.

Such campaigns are examples of transactional model of communications
Such candidates are trying to deliver their message across to win votes and americans are able to voice their disregards and their preference, through the forums, youtube, well, basically the media. Also, the environment affects how one will make their final decision as well.

How is everyone going to vote? Based on their personal preference(by having an african-american president for the first time)? will they follow the crowd? or because of the media propaganda?
Now i'll leave you with this video.

I think we follow it cause its publicised? Maybe.

I'd go with obama though cause of what u say. He's promoting change. I guess change is good. Although ppl always feel uneasy, cause its kinda out of their comfort zone kinda thing.

But i say CHANGE IS GOOD! Lets go Obama!

Wow, you have really provided me with quite a lot of information about the elections, and I am amazed.

Now we all know who the winner is, and it is certainly owed to the way his speech is delivered. To most people of the world, they certainly desire for an authoritative figure to rule the country- one who has opinions and is assertive( just like obama). People usually want to be driven and not moved.

From here, I learn that verbal discourse is very important when facing an audience. And for me, being a neutral onlooker about the elections, I see myself more appealed by obama, and instead more touched by mccain.

Still, to each its own, we all have different tastes and views.

ah yo.
why this blog so outdated huh?
obama won already..

anyway about it, my heart goes to obama too. if it were to be maccain, what difference would it make between bush and maccain? nothing.

the USA's history has gone a long way. if you want CHANGE, they need to take a hugh step. now, obama being THE president of USA is one. a black.

i just wanted to comment about the "fight" between obama and cliton(hilary). can we say the "battle between the sexes" has lost to the "battle between race"? seems like America has yet to except a woman. or is it just hilary not being good enough. so what if it was a woman just like obama fighting again maccain. who will win?

as everyone knows what happens in the USA affects most of the countires, esp singapore. so everyone would be interested.

obama-osama. already rumors have been spreading about the similarites of those too. seriously.. get a life..

obama sort to the younger generation. true enough. it was a good tactic. the younger generation is taking over someday, somehow. those who are afraid of change, whats a better life if you dont take risks?

thats my view.
